(Austin, TX – August 18, 2011)

Texas Physical Therapy Specialists (TexPTS) is proud to announce that they are now the preferred physical therapy provider for the Lonestar SC soccer teams in Austin, Texas. Physical therapy at TexPTS is provided by board certified specialists who use the latest scientific research to get Lonestar SC players back in the game as quickly as possible.

Lonestar SC is the leading youth soccer club in Central Texas. Based in Austin, Lonestar SC serves more than 6,000 member families from Waco to San Antonio and Johnson City to College Station. They pride themselves in providing a place for players of all levels to enjoy the game of soccer and in providing a platform for players to strive to progress to collegiate and professional soccer. Since 2004, Lonestar SC has placed more than 500 players on college rosters throughout the United States and 11 former Lonestar SC players have progressed to the professional game.

“We are ecstatic to be the provider of choice for Lonestar SC’s physical therapy needs,” states David Browder, PT, DPT, OCS, clinic director and therapist at TexPTS’ Balcones Woods location in Austin, Texas. “We are committed to provide all of their athletes with the best care possible to prevent and treat injuries, both on and off the field.”

TexPTS physical therapists emphasize prevention, identification, assessment, minimization, and correction of pain and disability associated with athletic injuries. The goal of treatment is to maximize participation and performance. Their therapists use many techniques to prevent and treat sports related injuries; such as, pre-participation screening; cardiovascular, resistance, endurance and neuromuscular re-education exercise programs; taping and bracing; sports specific ergonomic and training regimens; manual physical therapy; aquatic therapy; and orthopaedic physical therapy.

In addition to prevention and recovery, intervention to achieve maximum performance includes a focus on improving speed, agility, explosiveness, balance and coordination. TexPTS programs, Sports Performance and Gravity, provide individual attention and training. Physical therapists at TexPTS also perform Injury Risk Assessments to determine athletes’ risk for injury, before it happens.

“Although soccer players such as those on Lonestar SC Teams immediately come to mind when you think of sports and physical therapy, many other types of athletes also benefit tremendously,” explains Dr. Browder. “Some of these athletes that are less commonly thought of include golfers, rodeo, bikers and performing artists (music and dance), as well as bow-hunters. In fact, whether it is gardening, ranching, or golf, we can help you get to the top of your game.”
