Meet the Staff
Dr. Kelsey Birk earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) in Dallas. Prior to UTSW, she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Human Biology from the University of Texas at Austin (Hook ‘em!). She is an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS), Certified in Dry Needling, a Certified Clinical Instructor, and also earned her Manual Therapy Certification through Evidence In Motion (EIM).
Dr. Birk enjoys treating patients with all musculoskeletal and orthopedic conditions. With a background in both pediatrics and orthopedics, she has fun treating patients of all ages. She was drawn to the altruistic nature of the profession and loves helping her patients return to their previous level of function for improved quality of life.
When she’s not in the clinic, she partakes in all things health and fitness related. She spends her time training for races, strength training in the gym, or enjoying time
outdoors and hiking. As an Austin native, she loves taking advantage of the many things to do around Austin, whether it be spending time on the lake, listening to live music, or trying new restaurants.
Dr. Cara Pineau graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Kinesiology from the University of Rhode Island in 2015. Cara became inspired to become a physical therapist after successfully rehabbing a knee injury in High School. She grew a very strong appreciation for PT and felt inspired to help others recover from the physical, and emotional, effects of an injury. In May 2018, she graduated from the University of Rhode Island with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. She is currently working towards becoming Certified in Manual Therapy through Evidence in Motion (EIM) to expand her evergrowing PT tool kit.
Cara has previous experience in outpatient orthopedics and acute care physical therapy back in Little Rhody. Cara has a special interest in treating patients from all walks of life with various orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions. She enjoys the new challenges that come her way everyday as a clinician.
When she is not treating patients in the clinic, Cara enjoys catching up with friends and family. She loves spending time outdoors, riding her bike, attending work-out classes, and exploring all that Austin has to offer.
Byron is a recent graduate of the Physical Therapy Assistant program at South University in Round Rock. He is a native Texan from Mesquite who moved to Austin in 2008. He was drawn to the PT world by a desire to serve others more and was intrigued by the opportunity to help people improve their quality of life through the rehabilitation process. He enjoys meeting new people in the clinic every day and hearing their stories and making connections with them. He is currently working on completing his PTA Specialty Certification in Orthopedics.
Before life in the therapy world, Byron served on active duty in the United States Marine Corps from 2000-2006 as a Signals Intelligence Operator stationed in Pensacola, FL, Ft. Huachuca, AZ, and Kaneohe Bay, HI. He always enjoys crossing paths with fellow Veterans.
When he’s not in the clinic, Byron can be found completing projects at the new house his wife and he recently closed on in South Austin. He also enjoys planning his next trip to the mountains to snowboard, hike, or climb (poorly). He also enjoys being outdoors here in Austin or the surrounding beautiful hill country to camp or hike. He has fun playing with several nephews, visiting family when he can, and looks forward to starting a family of his own with his wife.
Dr. Sato received her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington before earning her Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) in the university’s 3-3 program in 2003. She began her practice in private outpatient physical therapy and spent over a decade in Tacoma, where she also became a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) by the American Physical Therapy Association. Dr. Sato later relocated to Boston and continued her career at Massachusetts General Hospital for several years before moving to Austin in 2019.
While Dr. Sato enjoys working with patients with a variety of orthopedic conditions, she has a special interest in post-operative and sports rehabilitation and plans to pursue a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification. Dr. Sato is also a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) and is passionate about treating this population as well as breast cancer patients and survivors.
When not in the clinic, Dr. Sato enjoys traveling and spending time with friends and family. Originally from Hawaii, Dr. Sato feels at home in Austin’s warm weather climate which supports her active lifestyle geared toward hiking, swimming, biking, golf, soccer, and running. As a lifelong athlete (former collegiate soccer player) and avid sports fan, she loves to watch/attend sporting events, especially MLB games.
