Meet the Staff
Dr. Thobaben is the Clinic Director at the San Antonio – Medical Center clinic.
Dr. Thobaben received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Florida in 2012 after receiving her Bachelor of Music from BaldwinWallace University and Master of Music degree from the Longy School of Music. She completed her Orthopedic Residency with Evidence in Motion in 2015, earned her professional designation of Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) in 2016, and is now serving as a clinical mentor with current orthopedic residents. Dr. Thobaben has served as adjunct faculty with the University of the Incarnate Word Doctor of Physical Therapy program as a problem-based learning tutor and guest lecturer.
Dr. Thobaben is committed to providing evidence-based compassionate care and developing others through her teaching and leadership. In addition to her orthopedic specialization, she has extensive experience working with patients with bariatric and pelvic health needs.
Prior to her physical therapy training, Dr. Thobaben worked as a professional violinist and violist. She performed and taught violin and viola in the New England area before her experience with an overuse injury inspired her to pursue a new career in PT. Dr. Thobaben and her husband Gary met in music school in Ohio, and have enjoyed the transition to San Antonio weather. They enjoy collaborating musically by taking piano lessons and arranging Christmas carols together.

Hilary Smith graduated from Texas A&M University in 2012 with her Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science and a double minor in Psychology and Business. In December of 2014, Hilary received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from The University of Texas at Southwestern in Dallas, TX. She completed a one year Orthopedic Residency program through Evidence in Motion in 2015, and continues to work towards her Orthopedic Certification Specialty.
Dr. Smith has a love for the orthopedic population. She has also trained to work with those who experience chronic pain and limitations from Breast Cancer and Lymphedema. She has a special interest in leadership and business management, gaining knowledge and skills through leadership groups and training, to better herself as an individual, a leader and clinician.
Hilary is a native Texan with a love for the Texas A&M Aggies. She is faith driven and family oriented, spending birthdays and holidays with seventy plus extended family members in South Texas. In her spare time, she enjoys floating the Frio River, keeping active outdoors, building relationships and spending time with family and friends.
Raised in New Braunfels, TX, Joshua graduated from South College in Knoxville, TN with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT). Joshua has a strong passion for continued education and is currently working to become Board Certified in Orthopedics through Evidence In Motion. He enjoys working with orthopedic patients of all ages and has special interest in persistent pain and behavior change. Josh is committed to promoting health and wellness through compassionate evidence-based care.
In his free time, Joshua enjoys strength training, camping, hiking, enjoying the doors, and reading nutritional science. He is a firm believer in the taco.
Kimberly graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station with a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Exercise Physiology before completing South College’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program. She is currently completing her Residency through Evidence In Motion with hopes of becoming a Board Certified Orthopedic Specialists (OCS).
Through her residency, Kimberly hopes to become more effective in treating patients with musculoskeletal conditions., and improve her manual therapy skills.
She loves working with weight loss patients, and encouraging others to pursue a healthy lifestyle change in order to improve their overall quality of life.
When she is not in the clinic you can find Kimberly spending time with her family and friends, being active whether it be at the gym or outdoors. She is also very passionate about service and growing in her faith life.
