Meet the Staff
Dr. Thobaben is the clinic director of TeleHeath at TexPTS.
Dr. Thobaben received her doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Florida after receiving her Bachelor of Music from Baldwin-Wallace University and Master of Music degree from the Longy School of Music. She completed her Orthopedic Residency with Evidence in Motion and earned her professional designation of Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS). She is a clinical mentor for orthopedic residents at TexPTS and faculty with Evidence in Motion in the Lumbopelvic Management course. In addition, Dr. Thobaben has served as adjunct faculty with the University of the Incarnate Word Doctor of Physical Therapy program as a problem-based learning tutor and guest lecturer in Trigger Point Dry Needling.
Dr. Thobaben is committed to providing the highest level of care for her patients and developing others through her teaching and leadership. In addition to her orthopedic specialization, she has extensive experience working in bariatric and pelvic health, including pre- and post-weight loss surgery, metabolic conditioning, lymphedema, pelvic floor pain and dysfunction. She has a special interest in pregnancy, postpartum, and musicians’ health. Arlyn is also a certified Zumba instructor and loves to dance with her colleagues and patients!
Before her physical therapy training, Dr. Thobaben worked as a professional violinist and violist. She performed and taught violin and viola in the New England area before her experience with an overuse injury inspired her to pursue a new career in PT. Dr. Thobaben and her husband Gary met in music school in Ohio. They have enjoyed living in San Antonio for the past eight years. They have two young children who always keep life outside of the clinic exciting and fun.
Barton received his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Exercise Science with dual minors in Biology and Psychology from Angelo State University, where he then went on to obtain a Doctor of Physical Therapy. Currently, Barton is enrolled in his Orthopedic Residency through Evidence in Motion.
Though Barton enjoys treating patients across the spectrum of care, his specialties include chronic pain, MVA, post-operative care, and sports injuries.
When not working, Barton enjoys relaxing with his wife and cat, rock climbing, hunting, fishing, cycling, programming, and playing video games.

Courteous staff, excellent PTs, flexible scheduling. I highly recommend TexPTS. Excellent outcome with my shoulder therapy. Injuries happen; when anyone in my family needs a PT in the future, they’re headed to TexPTS!

The therapy I have received at Texas Physical Therapy Specialists is first rate in every regard. The entire team is extremely knowledgeable, thorough, and compassionate. I have already made significant improvement in just three weeks.

I have had a great experience with everyone at Texas Physical Therapy Specialists. Such a friendly, laid back, and encouraging environment. They are on top of their game, and you can tell by the way they greet patients, work with them, and manage their team.

The folks at TexPTS are caring, thoughtful, and very professional. They truly care about your injury and want you to get better! I would recommend them highly to anyone in need of physical therapy!

The therapists, are very nice, friendly, knowledgeable, and encouraging. Their assistants and the office staff are equally as nice and friendly. The facility is clean and spacious. All this together makes for a very pleasant rehab experience!
